The complex was first explicitly mentioned in documents in 1356. The large humpback ashlar masonry, which has been preserved, shows that the oldest parts date back to the Staufer period.
From the inner courtyard, which features a newly created atrium with seating stones, there is a magnificent view of the Hürbe and Lone valleys and the confluence of the two rivers directly below the castle. This is an ideal resting place for hikers.
The Württemberg knights have settled very close to the castle. Every year on a weekend in June, a large knights' tournament with a lively market takes place in Stetten.
