Wegmarkierung
The trail leads from the beautiful town hall with its Rococo façade, across the monastery courtyard, and then parallel to the Brenz River to the most natural part of Lake Itzelberg. It was originally created as a fish pond by the monks of Königsbronn Monastery. It is simply a beautiful spot to forget time and space and let your mind wander. The trail continues along the Albschäferweg to the bridge over the Brenz. Now the trail climbs to the Herwartstein ruins. Here we can enjoy magnificent views over the Brenz valley. The highlight of the trail comes again at the end of the tour – the Brenztopf. Now cool your legs in the Brenz water of the Kneipp facility and then stop for a bite to eat in the beer garden. The children will have fun at the many playgrounds and especially in the water. What more could you need for a successful and relaxing day in the Brenz Valley?

Wegbeschreibung
From the parking lot, we first walk to the town hall. In front of the half-timbered house are several information boards that give us an overview of the historic area of Königsbronn and the surrounding hiking trails. We start at the town hall in Königsbronn and pay a visit to the Brenztopf right at the beginning. Following the yellow ring, we cross the parking lot at the hall and a small bridge over the Brenz to the monastery courtyard. The former Cistercian monastery invites us to linger with its many sights and information boards. At the church, we turn right towards Itzelberger See and walk along Paul-Reusch-Straße. At the next junction, Brenzstraße, you can visit the file grinding shop if you like. Otherwise, continue along Paul-Reusch-Straße, which ends in a footpath that leads through an underpass directly to the Brenz. At the wooden bridge, we stay on the left side of Lake Itzelberg. We circle the impressive wetland biotope with its bird sanctuary island along the lake path. We highly recommend a quick visit to the cemetery with its historic epitaphs. We now continue to the other side of the lake, where we meet the Albschäferweg trail. There are many places to rest and relax by the lake. Continuing along the lake, past the boat rental, mini golf, and kiosk, we continue on the Albschäferweg trail. When we reach the small bridge, we leave the lake and walk a short distance along the quiet road, cross the railway line, and then turn left. Now it's a steady climb uphill, and once at the top, we walk along the edge of the forest on the right to the Herwartstein ruins. A short detour to the viewpoint is worthwhile. We continue along the road for a while and then descend below the ski jump on partly paved paths to the 4-meter-deep spring lake – the source of the Brenz. There, the Kneipp facility and playground invite us to take a final rest.
